Located in Monterey, VA, Highland Medical Center, Inc. (HMC) is a non-profit, Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). HMC provides sustainable, affordable access to excellent health care, supports optimal health, and meets the wholistic needs of the individuals in our communities through collaboration and professionalism. Service lines include medical primary care, behavioral health, dental, physical therapy along with an on-site pharmacy. 

Position Overview 

Highland Medical Center | Monterey, Virginia

 

Highland Medical Center is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Finance Assistant to support our financial operations, including accounts payable and accounts receivable. This role plays an important part in ensuring accurate, timely financial processes that support HMC’s mission of providing quality care close to home.

In this vital part-time role, you’ll work closely with the Chief Financial Officer to assist with daily fiscal functions, maintain accurate financial records, and uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and integrity. Your work will help ensure the financial health and sustainability of Highland Medical Center while supporting the services our community relies on.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Perform fiscal and accounting duties in accordance with established HMC guidelines

  • Prepare, review, process, and post accounts payable and cash receipt transactions

  • Prepare and post vendor and miscellaneous payments

  • Reconcile vendor statements and communicate with vendors as needed

  • Record daily deposits into the general ledger

  • Maintain strict confidentiality of financial and patient information

  • Assist the CFO with policy development and updates to financial procedures

  • Support audits, reporting, and other finance-related projects as assigned

  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Two or more years of accounting or bookkeeping experience required

  • Accounting or bookkeeping education preferred

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel

  • Working knowledge of basic accounting principles

  • Familiarity with QuickBooks preferred

  • BLS certification required

Position Details:

  • Hours: 20 hours per week, Monday - Friday

  • Pay Range: $ 15 - $16 per hour

  • Benefits: Paid holidays, Simple IRA
